What a year. 2020 is a year to remember (or maybe a year not to remember?). A year which had started with a great trip to Lake Baikal ended up with a third closure and a vaccine starting to arrive. Of course plans have been cancelled and plans for 2021 are also currently on hold. But all this does not mean I did not take pictures. So here are my favorite images of 2020.
The year began as strong (and cold) as possible with an amazing trip to the frozen Lake Baikal in Siberia. Without a doubt one of the most impressive places in the world. Talks about a mysterious virus has only just begun. More details in a post I posted about the journey.

The rest of the year was already within the the country. Dor Habonim Beach is the most beautiful beach for photography in Israel and autumn is the best season of the year. A mini-project in which I re-photographed some of my favorite locations on the beach combined the two. Here are some examples:
Of course there were photos from other beaches as well:
Although I really love seascapes there were some other photos as well. After a few awakenings at 3:00 o'clock in the morning I finally caught the view of the Sea of Galilee from the Mt. Arbel with some clouds (on the left). Shortly before we entered a third round of closure and just a few days before the end of the year I managed to photograph the beginning of the flowing winter streams (on the right).
I did not get to photograph the Milky Way this year, but a short trip to the desert yielded some day and night photos:
